Wind Turbine Design Project
Designed, simulated, 3D-printed, and experimentally tested a small-scale three-bladed horizontal-axis wind turbine — from CFD prediction through to measured electrical output and a full efficiency-loss analysis.
- Designed and 3D-printed a three-blade HAWT in Fusion 360 with a NACA 4412 aerofoil, then ran ANSYS Fluent CFD (MRF, k-omega SST) predicting 2,476 mW — 86.8% of the 2,854 mW Betz limit.
- Built an Arduino + INA219 test rig measuring 58.73 mW (2.1% efficiency), then traced the gap to generator mismatch, motor losses, and surface roughness across a 20-page report.
